A while back I wrote about a contact lens with circuits on it. Now there’s another wonder lens that can monitor your eyes.

The lens, in development by researchers at the University of California, can function as a pressure sensor. The wires are made using polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and powdered silver.

The lens could be used to monitor such eye disorders as Glaucoma, which causes a pressure build up in the eyes and eventually causes blindness.

Eventually the lenses would be fitted with circuitry that could dispense medication on its own when a pressure threshold is reached.

The researchers will soon be seeking approval for human testing.
