Jan. 9 Update: So some sources say that the shirt cost $23,000 and not $230,000 as many earlier reported. We’ll update once we find out for sure, but either way, this is still a crazy expensive shirt.
Everyone, meet the Datta Phuge, who hopes to be known as the ‘Gold Man of Pimpri’ from this day forward. Phuge is a moneylender from the Indian city of Pimpri-Chinchwad and he’s loaded. He’s so ridiculously rich that he saw fit to spend $230,000 to have a gold shirt made so he’ll be more appealing to the ladies.
What was he thinking?!
Phuge explains: “I know I am not the best looking man in the world but surely no woman could fail to be dazzled by this shirt?” Phuge has a point, but the only girls who are going to be ‘dazzled’ by his shirt are those of the gold-digging variety. He also adds that the 22-karat gold shirt is also an investment, since the price of gold is steadily rising.
From a fashion standpoint, there’s really not much to say about Phuge’s golden threads. It’s so bad, but it’s not even good in the slightest bit.
