Any time I’ve enjoyed a game of air hockey on a real table, the puck still manages to find it’s way off the table on many occasions. So while I applaud the clever design of this portable version of air hockey, where the fan is integrated into the puck itself allowing it to float across a table or any flat surface, I can see it losing its novelty when you have to go pick it up for the 37th time in the first 3 minutes of a game.
But for just $14.99 from Urban Outfitters you get the puck, 2 paddles and a set of nets making it a cheap and easy gift. Just don’t let the giftee rope you into playing.

I love Air Hockey but i really don't think (like the article says) that this has been thought out.
this is a cool idea, could be done really well if it were thought through just a bit more.
I got this as a gift about a year ago and it broke after the 15 or 20 minutes! (from falling off the table). Fun while it lasted…
I used to be a champion air hockey player. And by champion I mean I've never played it before in my life.
Maybe if it is played on a sit on the floor table (Asian) and you put up cardboard around the table edges… but that makes it only usable on that table…not very portable after all… 🙁
The Air Hockey Queen (aka me) does not approve.
Wow, that does seem like a fascinating, but unpractical idea.
