So it looks like SanDisk is the first to market with a half-terabyte SD card. That’s 512GB of storage, in a piece of plastic the size of a postage stamp. If you’re a professional photographer or just someone who really, really hates changing memory cards, this is the one to get. SanDisk’s Extreme PRO SDXC (UHS-1) has 90 megabyte-per-second write speed and up to 95MBps read speeds, which is plenty fast to accommodate 4K recording, “stutter-free”. It’s also “resistant to extreme cold, water, shock, and X-ray allowing photographers to use these cards almost anywhere”. But of course, you’ll pay through the nose for it. MSRP is $800, which is as much as an entry-level dSLR. But hey, just wait a few months and you’ll get able to snag it for a fraction of that price.
