While the new ActiFry from T-fal can cook anything from seafood to risotto to even desserts, its biggest claim to fame is being able to cook up to 2lbs of fresh cut french fries using just a spoonful of oil. Now you might be asking yourself, “how is such a thing possible when my local McEatery uses a tank of oil deep enough to hide a nuclear sub?” Well my first guess would have been stolen alien technology, since I’ve never seen an overweight extra-terrestrial, but it turns out the ActiFry uses a patented stirring paddle and pulse heating system to cook up crispy fries that are considerably better for you. (When using a healthy oil of course.)
Now I still wouldn’t recommend eating french fries every day (4 years of college proved that to be an unhealthy experiment) but the ActiFry seems like a far better alternative to a vat of scalding hot oil sitting on your kitchen counter. $299.99 from Amazon.

I have this. I tried it at the demos thery had at the supermarkets and liked what it did. It can be used as a deep frier or an electric pan. It does indeed make good chips but you have to learn how to cook differently with certain recipes like chips with it because it utilizes oil differently than normal cooking but once you get the hang of it ,the food is always good.
Unfortunately, its rumoured to have a design flaw. It NEEDS a well ventilated area if not the gadget might ignite. Im not sure if the new models have rectified the problem. Mine developed a crack on the stirrer but Tefal was kind enough to replace it.
I remember these coming out a couple of years ago. Could be they pulled it due to design flaws because it was on TV and then just disappeared. I can see from reading Franco's post that it may have indeed had flaws. The biggest flaw I can see is the price.
It looks like a skillet with an automatic stirring spoon. I'm highly doubtful that it could actually replace a deep frier. It doesn't look like it could make a doughnut, or a monte cristo sandwich. I'm not sure that it could even do a twinkie. The chicken they showed in the video left me highly unconvinced, but it might be different in person.
That is so tempting. I have an Amazon car going now… I hate making fries because of the popping oil, because I try not to use too much. This would be perfect. And yes, everyday would be a bit much. I'm sure every other day is perfectly acceptable (j/k). Thank you for the information.

If I understood well it won't deep fry the chicken but kind of grill or toast it.
