I’m sure that we have more than a few parents out there that are reading the site. If you have kids who are just starting to drive, then you no doubt worry about how safe they are being. Namely, are they speeding, braking suddenly or just going places that they shouldn’t be? Wouldn’t it be great if you had a device that would tell you all of these things? I’m sure it would be even better if you could get one for free, right?

This week we will be giving away a SafeDriver from Lemur Monitors. This two-part device has a sensor that plugs into the data port of your car, and a key fob that displays the car’s maximum speed, number of sudden stops and distance traveled since the last reset. Don’t worry, you’ll have to enter a PIN to reset it, and the device will alert you if either the sensor or the fob has been tampered with.

So what do you have to do to win? Like many of our contests, US residents can drop a comment below to enter. Next Friday we’ll select a winner at random from the comments left. Good luck!

  1. haha…sucks to be my cousin who just got his license. thank goodness they didn't have this technology when i was a teenager. hahaha! thanks for the contest!!!

  2. you'll know which poor kid gets this he or she will be the only teen driving speed limit…haha oh i feel sorry for him or her when they go out with their friends or date….OhGizmo! WHYYY MUST U DO THIS TO OUR FUTURE!!!

  3. I grew up in a small rural community in the 50's and my Dad always knew how and where I had been driving before I even got back home. My teen grand daughter might hate me if I were to win this.

  4. This is horrible. Half of my best memories would have been deleterious to my continued freedom with this tiny Big Brother piece of spyware. I hope I win it so that I can take a hammer to it and allow someones child the chance to experience the freedom's everyone clamoring for this grew up with. If you have a single, solitary memory of budding automotive freedom, but would foist this on your progeny to “protect” them, then shame on you.

  5. Anybody know how it works plugging multiple devices into that port? I've got a similar device that reports a smaller set of data (number of “hard brakes”) to my insurance company to get me a lower rate.

  6. I can confidently say that everyone in my family could benefit from one of these things ha. Pretty sure this would give some much needed feedback on our driving. We could all use a little reflection on our driving now and then 🙂

  7. I really need this. My stepdaughter is not to be trusted on curfews, much less how she's going to drive with friends in the car. Please…I beg of you. I live with three females in the house. If it's not the wife, it's the 7yr old daughter trying to act like the 16 year old. If that doesn't deserve one of these for free, I don't know what will! 🙂
