After the furore caused by last week’s announcement of the Coolest Cooler, it’s only fitting to see news about yet another kind of innovative drink-chiling container. The Yeti Hopper Cooler is a waterproof bag with a 1 inch insulation throughout. It holds a massive 5.2 gallons of anything, which in theory is supposed to be a healthy mixture of loose ice and beverages. The zipper is watertight, which means you can toss it around and not worry about contents spilling out. And the claims are that the insulation is efficient enough to keep things cold for days. Whether that’s true or a marketing stretch on the word “days”, we don’t know. We can tell you that it’ll be available in October for $300, which is a hefty price to pay for something like this. Still, we haven’t come across many shoulder-mounted 5.2 gallon cooler bags, so you might be limited in your options if this is something you really want.
