By Andrew Liszewski
I remember as a kid wanting to make my own hologram for a school science fair project. Unfortunately after a bit of research I learned the whole process required a bit more equipment than I had access to.
Here we are, an undisclosed number of years later and the Design a Hologram Kit from ThinkGeek has everything you’d need to make 20 holograms at home or at the office. The included film plates are self-developing (with refills available from the manufacturer) and require about 10 minutes exposure time. While hologram rigs usually require a very dark room with a heavy, calibrated stabilizing table this kit can be used in a busy office environment even with fluorescent lighting overhead. (Though optimal results will be achieved in a dark setting.)
The Design a Hologram Kit is currently available for $139.99 from ThinkGeek.
