Ok, let me start by saying that this is somewhat old news. Yup, the PodFreq has been out for at least a month and a half! Nevertheless, there are a couple of things about it that attract my interest. Sure there are millions of FM transmitters for the iPod out there. This one however, encases you pod in a translucent plastic case. And that’s pretty cool on its own. Also, it connects to the dock connector, so you can still use the headphone while transmitting, which I imagine, could have its uses. And yes, you can just insert it into your dock without having to remove it.
But see, it gets a little better. The way this thing is made, it’s pretty easy to select the frequency it transmits on. Just juggle the frequency buttons to set it to anything between 88.3 and 107.7 Mhz., just like that, on the fly. And the spec sheet says it transmits up to 35ft away. Well… I’m sure I’m not the first one to think of this, but… uh, what’s to stop you from, say, driving around, hijacking passing motorists’ radios with Machivelic messages of your own creation? Huh?
Just a thought.
