The joke is getting old: kids won’t know what this is. I think it’s fair to say that it’s been made long enough that kids know what vinyl records, at least as the subject of a very lame joke. So we won’t make it… but we’ll use it as a segue to introduce the Floating Records Vertical Turntable anyway. Those of you who bother to have records probably feel very protective and fond of them, so you ought to get yourself a turntable that lives up to the quality of your affections.

An all-in-one solution, it features built-in, full-range stereo speakers, so it’s easy to get up and running. It uses an Audio-Technica AT95E cartridge mounted on a fully-adjustable carbon fiber tone arm, a DC manual belt-drive system to spin both 33s and 45s, and a high-mass acrylic plinth and platter. It has a headphone jack for private listening, and RCA outs with a built-in preamp in case you want to integrate it into your existing system. Assembled by hand in Chicago.

It’s a striking device, and it comes at a relatively reasonable price of $349. This is a pledge to the Kickstarter campaign, so you will unfortunately have to wait until December to get your shipment.
