You might have heard of Spherification. It’s a trend among food lovers that involves turning common ingredients into caviar-like pearls of flavour. The process usually revolves around turning the food into mush, mixing it with Alginate (a seaweed extract), putting it into a syringe and injecting little droplets into a mixture of water and calcium chloride to create the pearls. You can then use these to flavour and accompany your foods while elevating your presentation to that of an actual chef. Well, with the Imperial Spherificator, you can do all this more easily. The device handles all the aspects of spherification for you, so that what you’re left after each batch is between 200 and 250 pearls to use in your cooking. It comes with a recipe booklet and clear instructions on how to achieve the best results each time.

It’s still doing the Kickstarter dance, so it’ll cost you a $125 pledge to own one. It comes with 100g of Alginate and 100g of Calcium Chloride, the two key ingredients.
