DON’T HIT THAT REFRESH BUTTON!

There’s nothing wrong with your screen, because that’s what the wooden storage unit pictured above is supposed to look like. This hand-carved cabinet of sorts is called the Good Vibrations Storage Unit and it was created by architect Ferruccio Laviani for the 2013 Furniture Exhibition. Even if you’re not into wooden furniture, you have to admit that it’s all sorts of impressive. What sets it apart is its glitchy design, which obviously required a high degree of skill and careful handiwork to pull off.

You can check out the entirety of Laviani’s glitchy creation after the break.

Echoes of faraway places and Oriental elements are glimpsed in the “disorienting” design of this storage unit, which seems to have been “deformed” by a strong jolt or by swaying movements. Although it appears to depart from the aesthetics of the past, in fact it draws upon ancient knowledge in the use of carving and fine wood workmanship.
