When it comes to decorating the outside of the house for the holidays I prefer when it falls into one of two categories. The first is the simple approach using all white lights tastefully hung in trees and placed sparsely around the house as an accent. The second approach is of course the screw the neighbors, forget about energy-conservation, stop traffic mentality whereby you put up as much lighting, decorations and animated characters as your property or the structural integrity of your house will allow. Anything in between those two extremes I can do without.
In recent years the latter group of home decorators have been branching out by incorporating music-controlled lighting into their setups but most of the time they use special home-built controllers not available to the public. Well thankfully that problem is no more with the Mr. Christmas Indoor/Outdoor Music & Motion Light Show. It comes as a simple controller box with six outlets that are capable of powering a total of 7,200 lights. Of course the box also plays 20 different pre-programmed Christmas carols (10 in a traditional style and 10 in a modern holiday style) and will switch the individual outlets on and off in perfect sync to whatever song is being played. The light show’s built-in controls also allow you to adjust the volume of the music or select what song you’d like if the random playlist isn’t working for you.
The Music & Motion Light Show kit is available from QVC for $96.
