Key Takeaways

Normally, fishing involves a fair amount of tension; first there’s a tug on the line, and then there’s the excitement of pulling the fish up to the surface to see just what it is you’ve caught. If you don’t much care for a surprise however, the PowerRay Fishfinder Underwater Drone can take the mystery out of your experience by letting you see what you’re catching, in full 4K splendour. “It uses sonar to detect fish, blue light to lure them in and a 4K camera to stream the underwater action back up to the boat. It can dive to depths of 98 feet and go 130 feet away from the boat” It’ll send all kinds of data back to your smartphone, and can even be used with some VR goggles, presumably so you can look around underwater. There’s no word on price or availability though, and only what looks like CG renderings of the product, so we’re not even sure it exists or will ever hit the market. Still, keep an eye on this if you’re the kind of person who’d bring 2017 tech to an age-old activity.
