Looks like Pioneer is trying to ride the Xbox bandwagon by releasing the HTP-XGS1, a 600W, 5.1 surround sound system specifically designed to work with the 360. It’s equipped with MCACC, which is Pioneerspeak for Multi Channel Acoustic Calibration… System. Not sure why it’s not MCACS, but what the heck do I know about acronyms? In short, MCACC measures your room’s acoustic properties, and automatically adjusts the sound coming out of the speakers to to give you the best listening experience. Find out more at Pioneer.
It seems that the remote can even control some of the media functions on the Xbox. Now, there is no price yet, and it’s slated to hit the shelves… somewhere, in May. This news is coming from two Swedish sites that are usually very reliable, but since I can’t find a press release in English, or any mention of this on the manufacturer’s website, I’m taking a hands-off approach.
