Globalstar, the company with the big end of the market on satellite phones, debuted the world’s smallest satphone last Thursday: the GSP-1700, manufactured by Qualcomm. The new mobile satellite telephone will operate in more than 120 countries and six continents around the world. It’s almost half the weight and size of the current models out and the lithium-ion battery is designed to provide users with four hours of talk time and 36 hours of standby time, which is better than some traditional cellphones. It would be a very handy tool out in the field since it can connect in almost any condition and anywhere for that matter. It comes in three colors and the gigantic antenna can easily be disconnected for wearing comfort.
