Meet The Mamma Nessie Colander

mama-nessie-collander-ladle-1-e1436556642554

You guys remember the Nessie Ladle? It was the super popular ladle that looked like the Loch Ness monster poking out of your soup pot; quirky design and decent price made the thing a hit. And like a Hollywood movie, there’s now a sequel: the Mamma Nessie Colander. It helps you drain your pasta like a good colander should, and while it doesn’t share the same “poking-its-head-out-of-water” magic that the ladle had, it will make a great addition to it if you already own the smaller utensil. They easily nest into one another, and the BPA-free toughened nylon it’s made of should last you years. Considering it’s only $18.90, we think it’s a steal.

Some Guy Makes A Batsuit Out Of Tree Bark

bark-batman

Artists make pretty things; we get to look at them, say “gee whiz, look at that”, and then once we’re done, we just move on. That’s what we’re expecting will happen when you read about French artist Christophe Guinet’s work here. It’s a Batman suit made from tree bark, and well, it looks pretty neat-o.

Together with Warner Bros. France and the Splendens Factory, the artist has designed the iconic batman suit primarily out of tree bark, vegetal moss, lichen and fungus. A foam mold of the batman suit and helmet has been carefully wrapped and covered in layers of tree bark, forming the suit’s distinctive pointed ears, opening for the mouth and nose, and defensive shoulder covering.

Why? Apparently it’s Christophe’s thing, to appropriate plant life and create familiar objects. We suppose that in art, that’s as good a reason as any.

Transparent Practice Padlock For Budding Locksmiths

practice-padlock1

Lockpicking kits are pretty popular on the Internet; we even wrote about one… 9 years ago. But what’s the point in getting one if you have no idea how to use it? It makes more sense to acquire some skills first, and that’s best done through practice. The Ehdching Transparent Professional Cutaway Practice Padlock lets you do just that.

– Lock with open chambers on all the moving parts that allow you to see how it work
– You can see clearly that how the pins work when a key is inserted
– It will come out in perfect smooth working condition with no loose parts or pins
– You actually can see the pins moving up and down as the key slides into and out of the lock

The best part is that this product comes with its own set of lockpicking tools, and the whole thing can be had for a paltry $30.

Flailing Your Arms Around On A Bike Isn’t The Most Efficient Way To Signal, The Lumos Helmet Is

lumos-9

Bicycle riders are extremely vulnerable on the road, and despite many using their hands to signal their intention to turn, two cyclists a day lost their lives in 2013 in the USA. Especially in the dark, hand signals are hard to see, but the bright LEDs on the Lumos helmet? These are unmistakable. Directly integrated into the helmet, the LEDs allow you to signal with the flick of a wireless remote mounted on the handlebar. Additionally, a red triangle remains lit on the back, encouraging motorists to proceed with caution. On the front are white LEDs which also remain lit all the time, making you more visible from the front. And finally, an integrated accelerometer activates as a brake light! The helmet is waterproof, meets many safety certifications, and the batteries are easily rechargeable through USB. If you want your own, you’ll have to pledge $99 on their fully-funded Kickstarter.

Black Diamond Knife Block Looks Stylish In A Modern Kitchen

Black_Diamond_knives_1024x1024

You have to put your fancy kitchen knife collection somewhere, but why settle for the traditional wooden block you see in almost any kitchen? When trying to design a beautiful home, every little detail matters, and the Black Diamond Knife Block from company Edge of Belgravia is as striking of a knife receptacle as we’ve ever seen. Designed by one Christian Bird, the block fits up to 11 knives, but will look complete with as little as two. Almost any type of knife will be supported, as long as the blade is thinner than 4mm. “Clever use of weighting secures the knives in their blocks, just as slight angling allows for easy extraction.” And for something that looks this expensive, we’re happy to report that it’ll only set you back £89.90 (about $140). Oh, sure, it’s a lot of money for a knife block, we agree. But these designer items usually tend to fetch a few orders of magnitude more than they should.

Too Bad You Can’t Eat It: Inflatable Pizza Slice Pool Float

Inflatable Pizza Slice Swimming Pool Float

Mushrooms, pepperoni, olives, and lots of cheese– that’s what makes a perfect pizza for me. However, regardless of your toppings of choice, you’ll undoubtedly be amused at the weirdness and awesomeness of this swimming pool float. Yep, that’s right: it’s shaped like gigantic slice of pizza. In this case, the crust is something you can’t do without, because it also serves as the head rest.

The 72-inch inflatable features cord connectors so you can combine additional loungers (imagine combining a couple of slices to form one whole floating giant pizza!) It also has two drink holders on board so you won’t be thirsty on your floating pie. Too bad you can’t actually sink your teeth into it…

It’s available online for $40+.
